Christmas Memories Contest Winner

Thanks to all of you for the fantastic Christmas memories you sent in response to our Christmas Memories contest!  We really enjoyed reading the memories you sent in and it was tough to choose a winner because they were all very special.

Our winner is Carole Jacobs who sent in this heart warming Christmas memory with a lesson for us all. Thanks for sharing your special memory with us Carole!

My dearest friend Patti and I were going to go and do up the day shopping in beautiful Carmel, Caifornia. Patti had finished her session with chemo and she was weak and not having more than a strand of hair on her head I felt it would be fun for her also to put on her darling wig and let’s go and do up the day. When I arrived at her house she answered the door with sweats and that one strand of hair sticking straight up and a necklace she had made of the old type large Christmas light bulbs with bells between them on a cord. She smiled at me and said hope you don’t mind us not going to Carmel, thought we would stay in and make these necklaces. I said what, I don’t think I would wear anything like that, it doesn’t match my outfit. Patti smiled with that cute smile of hers and said “Carole sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself”. I felt so ashamed thinking what she had gone through, and the tears ran down my face and I said, “Get the lights” and so we made our necklaces and laughed and cried that beautiful day.

Patti is no longer with me, but I still have her memories of her and Patti’s sparkling lights. I know that she is still sparkling at her resting place.
